Take control of testing your Mac
Using the new Check Computer Suites, you can set up a variety of test suites for your needs. Use the built-in Full, Intermediate or Quick suites or make your own suite of tests to perfectly suit your needs. The Full Suite does what it sounds like, running every test and checking every drive. The Intermediate Suite leaves out the Surface Scan test to help save time, while the Quick Suite tests your Mac excluding your disks, for a quick look at the health of your Mac’s hardware. Customize any of these or create your own suite from scratch to test your Mac exactly as you would like.
Mac Drive Testing and Repair
Your Mac’s hard drive, even if it is a Solid State Drive, is more likely to experience problems than any other component on your Mac. Because data changes so frequently, it can sometimes get scrambled. So, it’s important to be able to test drives for problems and then repair them. Sadly, if something is physically wrong with the drive, it will need to be backed up and replaced, but the sooner this type of damage is detected, the fewer files – like cherished memories and important personal documents – will be lost. Most drive problems, however, result from data being in the wrong place, and can be repaired using TechTool Pro’s Volume Rebuild tool. Protect Important Data
The best way to prevent data loss is to be prepared. In addition to a backup, TechTool Pro includes TechTool Protection, which keeps an eye on your trash, allowing you to undelete that file you didn’t mean to delete. You can also back up your directory structures, the ‘map’ of where your data lives, so that if you need to recover data from a corrupt drive, TechTool Pro’s Data Recovery tool will know exactly where to look. Better yet, use TechTool Pro’s Volume Cloning tool to create an additional backup.

The portability of TechTool Protogo is included with every copy of TechTool Pro. TechTool Protogo allows you to create a bootable diagnostic device that contains TechTool Pro and all of its most powerful tools as well as any of your own utilities you may wish to install. You can then use this device to boot, check, maintain, and repair Macintosh computers as needed. Simply launch Protogo, choose Protogo from the Mode menu, and use it to set up a diagnostic disk. Snapshot Recovery
Techtool Pro 13 now includes data recovery options for APFS volumes. Create longer lasting APFS snapshots that can be used to recover accidentally deleted files, even if a backup is unavailable. Create snapshots automatically using the new Snapshot Usage feature in Techtool Protection, and mount and recover from your snapshots using the Snapshot Recovery tool.
Drive Speed Tool
Techtool Pro 13 introduces a new tool to measure disk speed. Drive manufacturers advertise speeds that may not be realistic for real-world use, depending on the connection used, etc. Find out how your drive actually performs using the Drive Speed tool.
Internal Improvements

TECH TOOL VERSION 2.8 IS INTRODUCING A NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE STRATEGY

In previous versions of Tech Tool, end users were accustom to accessing the Program Electronic Control Unit operation and viewing all Control Units. Users would select a Control Unit to program to see if it had an update available.

In the new version of Tech Tool 2.8 the Program Electronic Control Unit operation will only display ECU’s with available Software Updates. These updates are called “Software Packages”.

The distribution of Tech Tool major release of version 2.8 has been completed to Dealers and Customers/Fleets with valid subscriptions.

Support for Tech Tool 2.6 has ended. We encourage all end users running version 2.6 to update to the latest version. A new installation using a newer version is needed. Please contact the Help Desk at 1-877-978-6586 with any questions.

The Volvo Group is moving to a new security model using Microsoft user identity and industry standards (second part of 2021). Long term vision will require a unique identifier (email address) for every user account.

Tech Tool 2.7.107 contains an improvement for the FAS (Front Active Steering) Calibration function.

If any work is performed on the steering, please follow the instructions in the FAS calibration operation.

Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. For Tech Tool users who continue to use Windows 7, your PC will still work, but it will become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses because you will no longer receive software updates, including security updates, from Microsoft. Best effort support will be provided by IT Help Desk.

The release of 2019 New ECM Software may affect certain Test operations, valid on OBD2017 and OBD2018 emissions. Results of the New ECM Software changes are as listed:

Bendix Acom transitioned to a new, subscription-based ACom platform called Bendix® ACom® PRO™. The subscription is sold by Noregon, please visit the site to purchase or for more information. Please note it is not a plug-in for Tech Tool.

Support for earlier generations of the valuable ACom tool – including versions 6.17 and 6.18, versions you may be using today – will eventually be discontinued in 2020 after a published transition period. Please contact Bendix for more details.

What does Tech Tool with Bendix offer? Reads, Clear DTCs and Programs the PAR files using Vehicle Configuration Program (VCP). VCP can only be used with Tech Tool. It is used to program the Bendix ECU with the operational parameters for the vehicle. You can download VCP via the Trucks Dealer Portal.

Improved Method for Determining which DTC to Troubleshoot in a MIL-ON Situation

This information is applicable to vehicles built January 1, 2021 as it pertains to EMS and ACM DTC’s. The information will be retroactive to 2019 and 2020 model year Trucks as well, planned release Q1 2021. Click the button below for details.

MIL DTC Troubleshooting

In situations where the Technician has an illuminated MIL (Malfunction Indicator lamp) and multiple
confirmed DTC = True DTC’s.
A Software enhancement has been introduced to allow PTT to read and display the information.
Upon expanding the “Detailed Status Information” icon within PTT’s fault code scan screen, the Technician will
now see a new line for “Warning Indicator Requested”.

Warning Indicator Requested = False (DTC not causing MIL, most likely a Healed DTC)
Warning Indicator Requested = True (DTC Casing MIL and should be diagnosed)

This functionality will only be available with latest ECM and ACM software versions.
